Chebeague Property Landscaping

Enclosed is a variety of photos I took on Sunday, May 4 prior to our departure from Chebeague.

Take a look below and lets brainstorm about possible changes to the property, everyone's ideas welcome.

This input along with Luke's diagram and previous mentions can be used to get an estimate for cost, most likely next spring.  My thinking is, with all of the work we need done, we might as well get a quote for the bulk of it.

Howard-Rothschild Upper Yard Delineation :
I'm not attached to these wild shrubs, might be nice to push them back to the wall and insert shrubs along the property line.  1 or 2 species? The Leucothoe evergreen is farther down, maybe a couple more of those?
Removal of old leaves, plant grass up to referenced shrubs?

Front of House:
I significantly cleaned up stone wall during last visit (forgot to take a photo),  removed numerous rocks from soil leading up to stone wall.
Plant grass / perennials around front of wall?
I trimmed / sculpted tree growing out of wall significantly.    No garden plantings yet.

 Screens looking good!  Nice Ads.

Compost Area:
Plant grass, manicure trees, further define path to alcove where compost bin is?  Continue evergreen shrub property delineation along wall?
I'm also going to purchase / donate a leaf blower/sucker to the island soon.

Tree #1 (In front of Jeep) referenced in Luke's 2012 memorandum pertaining to similar sentiments should be considered for removal soon.
Quote from Luke's guy was $750 at the time.

Bill Calthorpe neglected his duties here.  I guess throwing this pile into the Tyler Weagle haul would behoove us.
Trunk removal?
Preparation of ground for foundation of new structure?
Plan shrub line for property delineation and aesthetics at the rear of property, near stone wall?

Continue lawn project by hand in preparation of building project, aside from big stumps,sW this is on my list to complete this summer.

Keep pushing back towards end of house.  Keep some trees to enclose proposed garage?

Love the Moses serpentine oak next door without leaves.

Azul running strong.

Screenage snorted.

Cleaning kitchen on Sunday before departure.  Hi Mae!

Wide angle sink.  Dishes done!...almost.

Area Between Upper and Lower:
Eliminate yard waste. dead leaves.
Keep small pine near path until becomes overbearing.
Tyler Weagle to pick up encroaching and ever-expanding pile(s) to the left of pictured area.  Once the area is cleared we can review the area and construct lines for landscape.
Old log-pile unnecessary with storage now in laundry room.
I'm hoping to get to the old forgotten stairway that Ann used to used, now overgrown with thorns, traces of poison ivy, and other such wild foliage.
Adam hit trace poison ivy with round-up on.
Be more diligent about taking yard waste to dump in the future.

Garage:
Work bench bowing, needs reinforcement underneath miter saw.  We bought new plastic bins (navy blue), Adam cleaned up the bench significantly.  Potentially hang bikes somewhere?

Lower Driveway Right Boundary:
Clean up yard waste.
Plant a few items along driveway eventually?
Completely rip out vegetation and plant grass under pine(s)?
Line Ron's driveway with shrubs to delineate our property, conceal his view of our property?
Leave some of the trees of our liking?

Lower Driveway Left Boundry:
Cleaning up of yard waste.
The raspberry bushes are nice but I could  stand to get rid of them just the same.  Thoughts?
There is a cool little path leading into an alcove under the pine.  Might be able to further construct a little path into a private little area?
Another idea is to blast open the whole area and plant grass / other miscellaneous shrubs to define driveway.  This would significantly expand lower yard.  Big pine thoughts?

Above Right Side Path to Boatyard:
Mentioned above, a proposed path up to alcove under big pine along with a reduction of the shrubs.  Also proposed, cleaning yard waste and eliminating all trees but the big pine, planting grass along whole area.

I like the openness of the area in front of chimney.
Clean up the yard waste.  Log pile unnecessary d/t log storage in laundry room?  Plant grass around lilac and chimney?

Bifurcation of lower path:
It would be pretty sweet real estate for frisbee to eliminate this patch, the only real reason to keep it would be for sentimentality. Thoughts?

Clean up area significantly, plant grass.  Clean up pine / eliminate pine?

Area Under Lower:
Completely rip plant network out, plant grass.  Keep lilac, prune back.

Motley Pines Lining John Small Road:
Eliminate?  Plant shrubs.  Big and expensive proposition.
Recently toppled, who did the much needed deed?

Lower Yard Howard-Rothschild Property Line:
Is this area doing what we want?  Thoughts, comments?
Success of olive trees?  Oak leaf hydrangea planted here,

Adam's being screened for the job.  (Wish I had an after picture)

Fresh paint shinin!
Let's prune back these lilacs, perhaps put some chicken wire over entrance to underneath?
The Gazy:
Looking great.  It would be nice to have grass between maple and gazebo.
Lilies / Irises in front of this window during Summer, around front corner of house.

Old maple stump, new maple branch tree.
Clean yard waste.  Plant grass, significantly push back shrubs towards property line?
Remove new maple and old stump.
Removal of all traces of poison ivy.

Mae raked this whole area!
She had a great idea about partitioning off the area with stones and planting a little garden.
Not visible, heptacodium and clethera which were planted last year for partitioning purposes, jack-in-the-pulpit in front.  I'm interested to see what the latter does during the summer, not personally adverse to removal of them or oaks.

Area cleaned out.  Brush line cleaned up. Push yard back to Ron's property line, with intentionally laid shrubs?
Keep specific trees, but get rid of many of the other stuff?
